Receiver in canal (RIC) hearing aids are popular with first time wearers with mild to severe
hearing loss. This type of hearing aid is traditionally smaller, lighter and more discreet
than a behind-the-ear (BTE), but not powerful enough for wearers with profound hearing
loss. RIC hearing aids have a fully rechargeable product range and universal connectivity.
In-the-ear hearing aids (ITEs) include all hearing aids that are worn entirely in the ear
(rather than behind it). There are various sub-styles in this category, from the large and
more powerful Full Shell to the smaller CIC (Completely-In-Canal) and the virtually
invisible IIC (Invisible-In-Canal).
Phonak's Titanium is an example of an IIC hearing aid. The hearing aid for the individual
who wants the most discreet custom-made hearing aid.
Phonak Titanium is the smallest custom hearing aid. Made from medical grade titanium, it
is super discreet, durable and lightweight. Being 15 times stronger than acrylic, it makes it
possible to build a shell as thin as 0.2 mm, which is 50% thinner than the existing shells of
our custom hearing aids. This allows for more power to be built into the hearing aid

support. It is now possible to program your hearing aid remotely from literally anywhere
in the world.
